The implant prosthesis
The implant prosthesis
An implant prosthesis is the visible and functional part of the tooth protruding from the gum, screwed onto an implant.
The prostheses are attached to dental implants via connectors or implant abutments.
Manufactured in different materials selected according to the practitioner’s choices, they are most often ceramic (aesthetic portion) with a framework in zirconium oxide, titanium, or metal.
Implant prostheses are custom-made in a prosthetic laboratory by a technician following the surgeon’s recommendations.
Different types of implant prostheses
- If a single tooth is missing: une dent :
The solution is to place a dental implant topped with a crown, independent of the other teeth.
Single implant prosthesis
- If several teeth are missing:
The solution is to place multiple implants with a bridge. At least two implants are required to replace three teeth.
- If all teeth are missing:
Two implant solutions are possible:
-
- Two or four dental implants are placed, then a removable prosthesis is stabilized via snap attachments. This is a resin removable appliance that must be removed daily for cleaning.
Removable denture on attachments
-
- Six or four dental implants are inserted to create the desired fixed prosthesis. This is the perfect solution if you are missing all your teeth.
