The dental implant placement procedure
Preparation
We accompany you to the operating room, taking all necessary precautions to ensure your comfort and safety.
We check your pre-medications, if prescribed.
Then you rinse your mouth with a chlorhexidine mouthwash for one minute. Once completed, we help you put on a sterile disposable surgical gown.
Next, we seat you in the surgical chair and place sterile drapes and all required protective measures.
The surgical procedure
We begin by applying a pre‑anesthetic gel, then administer a local anesthesia, identical to that used in a standard dental procedure.
At your request, we can also offer sédation for greater comfort.
The surgeon then makes a small incision in your gums and gently lifts them. A series of drills under irrigation is used to prepare the implant site.
Once the site is ready, the implant is screwed into place. The gum is repositioned and closed with two sutures.
To verify correct placement, we take a control X‑ray.
If the implant is placed in a posterior zone, we end the procedure by placing a protective screw, flush with the gums.
However, in esthetic zones (anterior sector), we generally plan for the placement of an immediate provisional prosthesis, allowing rapid loading.
The surgical procedure takes approximately 15 minutes.
Thanks to the anesthesia, you feel no pain during the procedure.
Implant surgery
Post‑op instructions
You will be unwrapped from sterile drapes and protective coverings.
We will explain the medication prescriptions and provide postoperative instructions so that your healing proceeds as smoothly as possible.
We will escort you to reception to schedule your next appointments.
Removal of sutures
You will return for a follow‑up around 15 days later. Sutures may be removed if they are uncomfortable; otherwise, they will resorb quickly.
Osseointegration check & prosthesis
We’ll meet again at 3 months to assess osseointegration. Clinical examination and radiographs will determine if bone has fused well to the implant.
At that stage, the implant may be fitted with a functional prosthesis.
