Implant maintenance
Implant maintenance care
Although the success rate of dental implants exceeds 90% after 15 years, regular maintenance remains essential to preserve the health of your implants.
During each maintenance session, we perform a clinical examination. Then we provide personalized hygiene advice and, if needed, take an X‑ray. We also check the tightening of the prosthesis to prevent any loosening.
Next, we carry out professional cleaning: we use ultrasonic instruments or manual curettes on the surfaces of teeth and implants. Afterwards, we polish using a specialized paste or powder.
What does an implant maintenance session include?
-
A clinical examination of the implant and surrounding tissues
-
Radiographs if necessary
-
Targeted professional cleaning
-
Personalized hygiene instructions
The frequency of sessions varies depending on individual risk, but a semiannual schedule is often recommended. Regular maintenance significantly increases the chances of preserving your implants in good condition over the long term.
Who should perform implant maintenance?
We recommend that a periodontist carry out this procedure. This specialist pays particular attention to gum health and implant stability.
When should implant maintenance be performed?
In general, one session every 6 months is recommended. However, some situations justify more frequent follow‑ups:
-
Patients with a history of periodontitis
-
Systemic diseases or special risk factors
In these cases, up to three to four sessions per year may be necessary.
Regular maintenance allows early signs of inflammation to be detected and intervene before complications arise.
