Dental implants
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants replace missing teeth by acting as artificial titanium roots.
At the 47VH practice, we insert these roots, in titanium ou en zirconium , into the jawbone to create a solid foundation for the future tooth.
We mainly use premium brand implants, made of pure titanium, known for their biocompatibility and durability.
After placement, the bone begins healing. Over time, bone cells actively attach to the surface of the implant.
This process, called osseointegration, lasts about three months and ensures a stable and long-lasting fixation.
Steps of implant placement:
A pre‑implant consultation is necessary to analyze your case.
The dental surgeon will review your medical history, perform a clinical exam, and assess your risk factors. Then a three‑dimensional radiograph (cone beam) is done to determine the bone quantity available for implant placement.
In case of bone loss, a bone graft may be necessary. These are often simple, well‑controlled procedures with a high success rate.
An immediat loading (placement of a provisional tooth) is possible depending on conditions. In this case, the implantologist extracts the tooth, inserts the implant, and immediately places a provisional prosthesis during the same session.
The surgical implant insertion
You will be placed in an operating room with all necessary precautions to ensure your comfort and safety.
Local anesthesia is administered after applying a pre‑anesthetic gel (anesthesia similar to that of a conventional dental treatment). Sedation is also available upon request.
The implant surgery lasts about 15 minutes. You will not feel any pain during the procedure.
For posterior dental implants, we finish by placing a small protective screw at gum level. Esthetic implants in the anterior sector generally involve placing a provisional prosthesis with immediate loading. Stitches are usually absorbable; otherwise, they are removed after 15 days.

Checking osseointegration and prosthesis.
After three months, your surgeon will check if the bone is well integrated with the implant. Then the impression can be taken to manufacture the prosthesis. A connecting part, called a prosthetic abutment, is then screwed onto the implant, which serves as support for a crown, a bridge, or a removable prosthesis.
Maintenance of dental implants
Follow‑up appointments are required to keep your implants healthy and prevent peri‑implantitis. These sessions are generally conducted every six months.
What are the main advantages of a dental implant?
- They efficiently restore dental function and esthetics.
- They preserve jawbone, unlike removable dentures (which lead to bone resorption).
- They leave neighboring healthy teeth intact, unlike bridges, which require grinding them.
- They help maintain good occlusal balance.
- They adapt to the vast majority of clinical situations, as contraindications are rare.
- The placement is quick, minimally invasive, and generally painless.
- The success rate is excellent: over 90 % at 15 years.
How much does a dental implant cost?
The fee for the surgical placement of a titanium implant is €1100.
This is in addition to your general dentist’s fees, who will make the prosthetic crown. Typically, that cost is of a similar amount.
In some cases, particularly when gingival or bone grafts are needed, additional charges apply.
We always provide a precise and personalized estimate before starting treatment.
The market offers many implant brands, but their quality varies considerably. The same goes for the training of practitioners: not all have equal experience or expertise in implantology.
At the 47VH practice, we have chosen to use only high‑end implants. Doctors Leymarie and Mouraret, specialists in implantology, bring their recognized expertise to your service to guarantee an optimal result.
Is placing a dental implant painful?
Implant placement is a quick and minimally invasive procedure.
In the vast majority of cases, the postoperative course involves only slight discomfort, often less bothersome than a tooth extraction.
Taking paracetamol generally suffices to relieve discomfort for 3 to 4 days following the surgery.
In most situations, no sick leave is necessary.
